Fancy cheese? Yes please!

02 Feb 2016 Posted by Sydney Rainin in Uncategorized

Wine and cheese have been paired together forever, and believe me, there’s no one who appreciates a beautiful triple cream brie with a luxurious champagne as much as I do. I’m drooling just thinking about it! But don’t you think we can modernize just a smidge? Isn’t it time to get a little more daring with your pairings? Of course it is! And with all the opportunities to celebrate coming up, we knew it was the perfect time to enlist our buddies over at our local market to find the perfect twist – cheese pairings with the Laughing Glass original margarita.

We have categorized the cheese by country and offered a little bit about why it works.

Spain: Manchego 12 Month Raw

Why this works: A mouthwatering margarita delectably balances the salty richness of the aged, hard cheese, and plays up its sweet/nutty characteristics. Our margarita is also well known to play up the sweet/nutty characteristics of your party guests, so there you go, perfect match!

Spain: Drunken Goat

Why it works: First of all, can we talk about the name? Is this cheese a booze company’s best friend? Drunken Goat is one of those magical cheeses that can go with just about anything. Its flavor is sweet, with a goaty creaminess, which makes it pair well with a slew of alcoholic beverages. Delicious disaster-proof party fare.

Italy: Taleggio

Why this works: the creamy cheese has a thin crust and a strong aroma, but its flavor is comparatively mild. Goes nicely with the bold, earthy structure of tequila, and makes you feel like you’re on a picnic in a field of grass in the Italian countryside.

Holland: Midnight Moon Goat Gouda

Why this works: Easy-to-drink Laughing Glass contrasts beautifully with this smooth, dense cheese. There is a slight crunch of protein crystals to match the lightly carbonated margarita. Tip of the day: Try making a decadent grilled cheese appetizer with this one. Yum!

Multi-national: Any double or triple cream from Mt. Tam, Daffinois, Delice D’Argental, etc.

Why these work: “Bloomy” is how the cheese guys say it. These soft, luxurious brie-like delights match perfectly with everything, as far as I’m concerned. Can I spread brie on my life? Especially nice with the crisp, sparkle of limey margaritas.

The spicy twist! Hard, crumbly jalepeno cheddar

Why it works: Well, c’mon! Spicy, salty, jalepeno-infused sharp cheddar? The thought alone is making me want to knock back a refreshing margarita. This cheese is a surprise, a conversation starter, and just plain fun.

So think of what we’ve got on the horizon here just in February alone: Superbowl 50, Valentine’s Day, and National Margarita Day (yes, it is a thing, it is on February 22, brace yourselves). Instead of inviting friends over for traditional hors d’oeuvres (and having to race around the kitchen preparing a bunch of different choices), why not build a get-together around a few great cheeses paired with Laughing Glass Margaritas? From an entertaining standpoint: delicious, simple, brilliant.

LGC Launches the New Pomegranate Margarita

17 Nov 2015 Posted by Sydney Rainin in Press Releases

Bright, bold and delicious is how fans are describing the new Pomegranate Margarita from the ladies at Laughing Glass Cocktails. Founders, Moms and Mixologists, Carey Clahan and Sydney Rainin-Smith, are excited to launch their second flavor of ready-to-serve margarita cocktails after the success of their Original margarita home run.

This refreshing Pomegranate cocktail features the Laughing Glass proprietary super premium Blanco tequila, tangy notes of pomegranate, a hint of citrus, and the subtle sweetness of organic agave nectar. Together, these simple ingredients deliver the perfect pomegranate cocktail.

San Francisco Celebrity bartender Johnny Love Metheney has this to say about the latest Laughing Glass concoction, “I still make drinks every night for a living, but when I’m home and entertaining I reach for Laughing Glass. I’ve always loved the Original margarita, and on busy nights I pour it at Mayes Oyster House for an easy, low-calorie option for guests. I was lucky to be one of the first people to try the new Pomegranate Cocktail and it was love at first taste!” Co-Founder, Sydney Rainin-Smith, says taste was at the top of their list again with new flavor. They wanted to create a refreshing cocktail that was both unique and unforgettable. Rainin-Smith says

“The first sip is so unexpected, and by the second, you are hooked.”

Don’t let the jewel-pink color fool you. Made with the highest quality ingredients, this is no syrupy fruity Kool-Aid cocktail. LGC took the complexities of their tequila and integrated the tangy boldness of the mighty pomegranate with delicate citrus, and organic agave nectar. “The balance of tangy to sweet is unlike anything else on the market today,” says Co-Founder Carey Clahan, “the flavors are bold and tangy, but not overloaded with sweetness. We worked really hard to achieve a perfect balance. We wanted to offer consumers something special for the fall, so this is our early holiday gift!”

While this margarita cocktail refreshes year-round, simply add a wedge of orange and a sugar rim for the perfect holiday treat! Preparation takes approximately 1 minute.

The new Pomegranate Margarita from Laughing Glass Cocktails is available this October. Look for their ready-to-serve cocktails at Whole Foods Markets, Mollie Stone’s Markets, Bristol Farms, Nugget Markets, and many other popular retail grocery chains.

It’s almost summer – in L.A. it feels like summer already. We were sent a sample of a new drink from Laughing Glass Cocktails. Okay, we like the name, too.

It’s an artisan tequila. No, it’s an artisan margarita. In a bottle, pre-mixed (but it doesn’t feel mixed at all, it’s so light and delicious….) and all natural. The name alone was perfect. Just pour it over ice in a wine glass and if you want to be fancy add a slice of lime. But for a summer barbecue, (or a guacamole starter) and a light incredible drink under the stars, we recommend it highly! And, for a party, it’s so simple, three bottles and no muss and fuss, and slightly lighter (thank goodness) on the alcohol content than if you’d mixed it at home. Some of us have a no alcohol before six rule around here, but you don’t, I bet it would be delicious with huevos rancheros, too!

LGC in Marin Magazine!

Three Marin County women came together to make a great cocktail.

Some days are coffee days (5 a.m. alarm), and some days are wine days (gridlock traffic). For the women of San Anselmo’s Laughing Glass Cocktails, every day is a margarita day. Founded by Marin locals and close friends Sydney Rainin-Smith, Jill Korst and Carey Clahan (pictured, left to right), the company produces all-natural ready-made margaritas from the trio’s fresh pressed lime recipe, with two more cocktails slated for release this year. “We tasted all the other products on the market, and they all tasted like something out of your medicine cabinet, and worse, were filled with nasty chemicals,” Clahan says. “Our margarita has only a few natural and organic ingredients and is low in calories to boot.”

PHILOSOPHY Aside from creating an authentic high-quality product that drinkers can feel good about sipping, the company aims to bring women together. “Laughing Glass Cocktails is all about friendships,” Korst says. “It’s why we started in the first place, but just as important, we want to encourage friends to get together frequently, and get laughing.” THE SCOOP The signature margaritas are composed of simple, quality ingredients like all-natural citrus and organic agave nectar. Specifically omitted are substances that make some ready-made cocktails unappealing: artificial preservatives, sweeteners, additives, flavors or colors. You can find Laughing Glass margaritas all over California and online through Ludwig’s Fine Wine & Spirits and the Jug Shop. BEYOND MARIN The Laughing Glass ladies also list “tequila distillers” on their shared resume. Unable to find a bulk tequila brand that met their high standards, they headed to Mexico and an artisan distillery, where they produced their own proprietary blend — a super-premium blanco tequila — making theirs the only company in the ready-to-serve cocktail market that crafts its own spirit. WHAT THEY SAY “We work together 100 hours a week, but at the end of a crazy day or workweek, we still love to hang out with each other,” Rainin-Smith says. “Recently, we went on a family ski trip to Montana with our husbands and kids and of course shipped a case of our margaritas to enjoy après ski.”
